3 Ways to Party with Prestige this New Year!

Light those sparklers and start counting down because it’s almost time to PARTY! While we are still busy closing out December and prepping for the Christmas festivities, we are already looking ahead to celebrating New Year’s in Cedar Rapids! It’s a wonderful time to start fresh, say cheers to our accomplishments, and celebrate our new beginnings. 

So this year, celebrate with Prestige! We’ve got a few sparkling events on the calendar that we can’t wait to tell you about, as well as open enrollment in our school year classes! And the best part? We’ve got something for all ages this January that will be sure to kick off your child’s year with a bang!

3 Ways to Party With Prestige This New Year:

1. New Year’s Day Prestige Party: Ages 3-9

They may not make it to midnight, but they’re ready to ring in the new year bright and early! Send those energetic little ones our way on New Year’s Day for fun activities, games, dancing, and their favorite celebration tunes.

2. Turning Camp: January 2nd, Levels 1-6

Jump into the New Year on your best turning foot! In this one-day, skill-focused workshop dancers will work on mastering their current turning combinations and bridge the gap toward more advanced skills. Levels are based on your 2021-2022 enrollment.

    • 3:30-5:00pm Level 1/2
    • 1:30-3:30pm Level 3/4
    • 1:30-3:30pm Level 5/6

Turning Camp
January 2nd, Times vary depending on level.
$23 Per Child

3. Enrollment is ongoing for our 2022 Weekly Dance Classes!

While our fun events are the perfect way to spend your Winter Break, there’s nothing quite like our Weekly Dance Classes that run for the entirety of the school year. Whether your child is interested in picking up a fresh hobby in 2022, or try a brand new dance style, there’s still time to join us in the New Year! Hey Prestige families, with the holidays coming to a close, we are ALREADY thinking about 2020 over here. With the new decade just around the corner, we think we are most excited about seeing our Prestige Performance Dance Teams perform their BRAND NEW dances. January means competition and performance season is officially in full swing!

P.Co

P.Co is Prestige Dance Studio’s all-genre competition team. The P.Co dancers attend four regional dance competitions as well as one national competition. At these fast-paced and glamour-filled competitions, our dancers perform their routines for judges and compete against other studios for prizes and trophies.

Competing in all styles of dance, P.Co is a group of well-rounded dancers who can adapt to many different styles and techniques. As they perfect their routines week after week, they learn teamwork, responsibility, and commitment. In addition to the competitions, they attend dance conventions where they learn from world-renowned teachers alongside students from all over the nation.

P.Com

We know the fast-paced competition atmosphere isn’t for everyone, and performing is about SO much more than just winning trophies. That’s why we created P.Com, our studio’s community expo team. Dancers perform four to six times per year throughout the community with both jazz and hip hop routines. 

Discipline, teamwork, and showmanship are all values that we strive to teach our P.Com dancers. We focus on the joy of performance and the amazing feeling you get when you share your love of dance with an audience. This team proudly represents Prestige Dance Studio within the Cedar Rapids area, and they know that means putting their best foot forward always. 

Our performance dance teams are pretty great if we do say so ourselves! That’s why we have a tradition at Prestige of creating glowing photo galleries of our dancers that we feature on our very own website. They look just like professional dance companies!

Market After Dark returns this Saturday in Cedar Rapids– The Gazette

This article was all about getting Cedar Rapids pumped up for Market After Dark. The “lighted ballerinas” mentioned in the article are our Prestige dancers! This was such a cool performance for our dancers that we have done it 2 years in a row. Our performance was a huge success, we had so much fun and are so proud of our dancers. Prestige Dance Studio Debuts Marion Venue– The Gazette

Dance-Inspired Halloween Costumes

Cedar Rapids Dancers will love our ideas for halloween! Halloween is JUST around the corner, do you have all your costumes ready and picked out? If not, you are not alone! We are sure that many of our dance parents out there are starting to panic a little. We have just the thing for those parents, the ultimate dance-inspired Halloween costume list. Feel free to go through it, check your closet for things you already have and put together something amazing! These costume ideas would be perfect for any dancer OR any parent hehe!

Do you have a favorite dance icon? We LOVE the idea of dressing up as your favorite version of Brittany Spears, Michael Jackson, Beyonce, or Audrey Hepburn. Pick your favorite look and go for it! There is also a slew of professional dancers to choose from. Try Misty Copeland as “Firebird”, Martha Graham from “Lamentation”, Maddie Ziegler from a Sia video,  or even a judge from “So You Think You Can Dance!”

What is your favorite dance movie, Broadway show, or ballet? Can you make a costume inspired by a character? We ALL love “Dirty Dancing,” “Footloose,” “Grease,” “West Side Story,” “Swan Lake,” etc. There are SO many memorable characters to choose from! The best part is that most wouldn’t even require a trip to the store!

For people who want to keep things a little simpler, we think the classics are FABULOUS as well! Be a ballet, hip-hop, jazz, or modern dancer. Wear your favorite dancewear and call it a day. Also taking on dance from your favorite century can be super fun! We love a good poodle skirt or side pony. If you are going for a more edgy look this year, a zombie dancer or cheerleader will ALWAYS give a good scare.

You see? There are SO many great options to choose from that incorporate dance in some way. We hope this gave you a little inspiration for this year’s festivities. We can’t wait to hear your Halloween costume plans and see what you come up with!

 

 

 

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s

As many of you know, the Alzheimer’s Association and the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is very near and dear to our hearts here at Prestige Dance Studio. Miss Jess’s mother, Duanne, has been battling Alzheimer’s for 10 years. She is now 64 years old and in her final stages of this horrible disease.

We have connected with the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s to share our support to Miss Jess’s family and to give back to our community. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. The event is held in over 600 locations across the country, including Cedar Rapids. In 2015, the organization raised over $75 million.

Each year, Prestige Dance Studio organizes a team called “Dancers for Dude.” Together as a studio, we raise money for the cause and participate in the walk. Along with enjoying the event, we are looking forward to special performances by our Company and Community teams. Last year Dancers for Dude was the largest team in Eastern Iowa. We hope you will help us in achieving that again this year and appreciate your continued support and acknowledgement of a cause that is so special to us at PDS. Where? McGrath Amphitheatre, 475 First St SW Cedar Rapids, IA 52401

What Time? Registration Opens at 8:30am, Opening Ceremony at 9:30am, Start Walk at 10:00am

How long is the walk? The walk has a 2 mile route going through down town Cedar Rapids and the Cedar Valley Trail. There is a shorter, 1 mile route available for those who would like to walk a shorter distance.
